| I
am lucky enough to be that rare specimen of a person; someone
who is in a job she loves and has the drive to be constantly looking
for ways of improving performance and gaining promotion to the
next level of the company. I have been employed by Taiwan Technologies
for seven years now, and see my future tied in with this dynamic,
multinational company. I know I have the ambition and commitment
to not only reap the rewards of a personally successful career,
but also to directly contribute to the long-term prosperity of
the company itself.
My mother
tells me that even when I was young, there was never any doubt
in the minds of the family that I had the drive to have a prosperous
career. Growing up without a father, I had to take responsibility
from an early age, both in looking after my younger brothers when
mom was at work, and later, when the burden of providing income
for the family fell on my shoulders. I was always a keen student,
and performed adequately both at high school and university, but
the academic career was never going to be the life for me. I’ve
always had too much energy to sit at a desk, poring over books.
After leaving
university, I worked in a number of different roles, and although
I found none suited me particularly, I am grateful for the experiences
gained and lessons learned. When I was offered a position of junior
salesperson at Taiwan Technologies, I instantly felt that I’d
entered an organization whose structure and outlook was perfectly
matched to my abilities.
After two
years in sales, I had impressed my superiors sufficiently to get
promoted to the role of floor supervisor. I instantly thrived
in the added responsibility, and was able to not only increase
the overall sales of my department, but also to implement new
ideas and guidelines which are still used by the company to this
day.
Last year
I applied for the job of sales manager. After a grueling course
of tests and interviews, I was finally awarded the post. Imagine
my joy at attaining such a position – something that I had achieved
through sheer hard-work and dedication to whatever task I was
presented with. Although I’m thoroughly content and one hundred
per cent committed to managing this department, I still have high
hopes and a clear vision for the future. There are still many
aspects of the company that I wish to learn about, and one day
I would relish the opportunity to work abroad in one of our overseas
offices. I have seen in the last seven years how the obstacles
and boundaries of international business have rapidly dissolved,
forming a truly global economy, which I am excited to be a part
of.
Believe
it or not, I do sometimes have opportunity for a life outside
of the office and I like to use this to spend time with my family.
They have always been my inspiration and motivation in all I do,
and I am happy that I have the means to provide a more comfortable
life for them. My dream is to one day be able to use my business
knowledge to start up my own family-run company, giving those
closest to me the chance to enjoy such a life as I have.
