| From
an early age I have nurtured a passion for the subject of Science
and Engineering; from my elementary school days when science was
my favorite subject, to my university days where I was a dedicated
member of the Engineering Club. In both my academic career and
my personal studies, I have sought to increase my knowledge of
this topic. Nothing can deter me from succeeding in my chosen
field, and I feel that the University of Timbuktu is the best
place for helping me achieve my ambitions.
My
studies at Taipei University have certainly furthered my passion
for Science and Engineering and have underlined my desire to advance
my understanding to the next stage. I performed well academically,
and always ensured that I complemented the course structure with
my own personal research, through reading of Science and Engineering
journals, as well as gaining practical experience through trips
and excursions or through listening to my peers. I was a passionate
member of the Engineering Club throughout my university days,
which not only gave me the chance to converse and compare ideas
with like-minded people, but also taught me a lot about teamwork
and cooperation. I was honored when, in my final year, I was elected
vice-president of the club.
After
graduating, my only thought was, “Where can I go to advance in
my chosen area?” After listening to my professors’ suggestions,
and making my own careful consideration, I find that the University
of Timbuktu is the ideal institution for me. This is for a number
of reasons; firstly the university’s excellent faculty and facilities
would provide first-class assistance in my desire to further my
education. Secondly, the schools revered name in the field of
Science and Engineering, plus its connections with worldwide companies
and its network of alumni, would contribute greatly to helping
me achieve my later career goals. Last but not by any means least,
I am very attracted to the prospect of living and ‘making my way’
abroad. I have always attached great importance to the study of
the ‘International Language’, English, and have always appreciated
that a firm understanding is vital if my ambitions are to be achieved.
Clearly,
the University of Timbuktu has a lot to offer, but what could
I bring to the school? Firstly, my enthusiasm for the subject
means that you won’t find a more ardent and eager student. Studying
Science and Technology is how I would choose to spend my free-time,
whether I was admitted to a university or not. Secondly, my keen
desire to immerse myself in an English-speaking environment and
my outgoing personality makes, for what would be for many people,
a step into the unknown, a highly exciting prospect.
My
career objectives after completing a course at the University
of Timbuktu would obviously be closely linked to the field of
Science and Engineering. My dream would be to work at a global
company in the United States, whilst in my free-time carrying
out my own personal research, analysis and experimentation. The
further goal beyond this would be to return to Taiwan to contribute
my academic and professional experience to the county which kindled
my love for this subject.
I
therefore hope you feel, as I do, that the combination of my love
for Science and Engineering with my desire to perfect my English
would make me an ideal candidate for your institution.
