Throughout my life the Liberal Arts have always held the most attraction to me. From my school days, where I was passionate about literature and languages, to my university days where I studied politics, to my working life where I’ve spent four years at a history museum. My free-time is consumed with gathering knowledge of all these fields, especially history, so I now feel it’s time to enter an environment with like-minded souls so that I can take my knowledge to the next level. The University of Katmandu strikes me as the ideal graduate institution to help me achieve this.
          Filled with grand ideas about changing the world as a politician, I entered Taichung University on a four-year politics course. Over that period it dawned on me that this wouldn’t ultimately be the profession that I sought, however I showed my dedication and responsibility by buckling down and performing to the very best of my abilities. I left with above-average scores, but more importantly I left with a clear direction about where my life would go next. This I learned from the vast archives of the university library where I spent many happy hours poring over the historical books and documents that they had available. I am ever grateful to my university time for awaking this passion in me.
          I was then fortunate enough to gain employment in the esteemed Taipei Museum of World History. What a joy! I could spend my days organizing historical artifacts, researching the past and best of all, passing on my knowledge, and sharing the wonders of history with others. The other major bonus of this job is that it gave me the opportunity to practice my language skills, as the majority of our visitors were foreign tourists.
          After four wonderful years at the museum, a colleague asked me why I had never gone on to further my study in a field which clearly was my all-consuming passion. I replied that after my previous university experience, I didn’t want to repeat the same mistake. My colleague then showed me the University of Katmandu prospectus and I was instantly captivated by the choice of subjects available. Combined with the chance to further practice my language skills by living abroad, I decided straight away to return to my studies.
          After completing a graduate course at your university, my future objectives would include remaining abroad to further deepen my knowledge and polish up my language skills. To find employment in an overseas museum would be ideal. I would complement this with my own private study, and hopefully I could publish meaningful papers on my chosen field. Eventually, I would love to return to my home country with the ability to pass on my education to the next generation of history lovers.
          I strongly feel that I would be an ideal candidate for studying at your institution. History is the love of my life, and I would bring with me a real eagerness to learn. I am a devoted student and have shown in the past that I am thoroughly committed to whatever task I set about. Plus, I already have a good base knowledge in both history and languages, and I relish the opportunity of discourse with my fellow students.
